Prayer is doubt's destroyer, ruin’s remedy, the antidote to all anxieties. C.H. Spurgeon
We saw last in part 1 of “Use the Difficulty” trials drive us to pray for wisdom. Along with the insight God provides lavishly, we gain His magnificent presence, and our resulting maturity is revealed.
We now see our tribulations develop our perseverance, character, and hope. Our hope: determination, i.e., we overcome.
Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:4-5
‘To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’
Perseverance, character, hope, and overcoming all build and assure our souls.
"What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more."
